Let's help save Iranian Studies classes at California State University, Northridge (CSUN)

With your help and support, let’s stop the cancellation of Persian classes at the California State University, Northridge (CSUN).

Founded in 1958, California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is a vibrant, diverse university community, located on 356-acres in the heart of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. CSUN, which is among the nation’s largest single-campus universities, encourages students to combine academic pursuits with hands-on experience. It also serves as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Valley and is one the most diverse universities in the nation. Since 1997, every Persian language course offered at CSUN has seen enrollment beyond classroom capacity, confirming the popularity and importance of the class to the students of all races and ethnic backgrounds in San Fernando Valley. However, as the Cal State system has had to adjust to shifting state budgets, the Modern and Classical Languages and Literature Department at CSUN has canceled all Persian language classes.

With over 1,000,000 Iranians in Southern California, many of them concentrated in the Los Angeles region, and with approximately 4,000 Persian speaking students at CSUN, we believe that there is enough support in the community to endow the Persian language courses at CSUN, assuring students continual access to the richness and historical importance of the language and culture.

That’s where you come in:
With your help, we will raise the funds needed to save the Persian language classes at CSUN. This endowment will allow the university to schedule Persian classes for the fall and spring semester of every academic year.

Any donation to the endowment is entirely tax deductible, and more importantly, guarantees the survival of Persian courses at CSUN.

Farhang Foundation would like to invite everyone who appreciates Iranian heritage to join us in this effort and will add $1 to every $4 donated by the public, up to $4,000.

We are thankful to KIRN 670 AM Radio Iran for their generous support of this cultural effort.
